SPECIAL FOCUS AREAS

.01 PERINATAL MOOD AND ANXIETY DISORDERS (PMADS)

Becoming a mother is one of the most pivotal times in a woman's life. From conception to birth, it can be a time filled with different emotions: bliss, anxiety, joy, fear, love, depression, hope, and many more. All of these are valid and can even co-exist. Everyone's journey to and through motherhood looks different. I  respect that and specialize in treating perinatal depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, adjustment to motherhood, and infertility or loss.

.02 PARENT-CHILD BONDING

The attachment bond is defined as an emotional connection between a child and their primary caregiver(s) based on nonverbal communication. A healthy attachment is paramount to healthy development for a child, but sometimes attachment can be interrupted for various reasons: NICU stay, parental mental health, trauma, everyday hustle and bustle that doesn't allow us to slow down  and really connect with our children. I would love to help you connect with your baby or toddler in meaningful ways that benefit you both.

.03 HEALING TRAUMA

All of us have experienced some type of  trauma in our lives. Research shows that trauma alters the brain, but healing also alters it and can truly change the trajectory of your life. I would love to hold space for you during your healing process and I offer a special focus on infertility struggles, pregnancy loss, and birth trauma. I can offer narrative-style story telling and hold space while you process those difficult emotions, or Eye Movement Desentization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).

.04 ATTACHMENT WOUNDS

Attachment Theory recognizes that the way we connect with our primary caregiver from birth to age three, is a good indicator of how we will relate to the world around us, and function in adolescence and adulthood relationships. There are four main attachment styles: 1. anxious-preoccupied, 2. avoidant-dismissive , 3. disorganized / fearful-avoidant, and 4. secure. Those with insecure or anxious attachment styles may have to put very intentional work into feeling secure in relationships, and not repeating behaviors that further complicate relationships. I can help you discover your attachment style, and actively work to feel more secure in yourself, and ultimately, your relationships.
